Our first Caring Corporates Event, held here at Beaverbrooks House on 21st March, saw business bosses from Blackpool come together to find out more about the work that we do, how they can support us and, most importantly, how we can support carers within their workforces.
Did you know that 1 in 8 workers have caring responsibilities?
That is a huge amount of carers who are juggling their professional work life with the demands of caring for a loved one due to disability, illness, mental ill health or substance misuse. The good news is that here in Blackpool we are available to visit workplaces and raise awareness of carers and the support on offer here at Blackpool Carers.
Our support helps carers to maintain their life balance, making sure that the right services are involved to enable them to continue to work, helping to provide them with positive routine and a sense of identity outside of their caring role. In return, this creates carers who are engaged in their work and by being a business who demonstrates that you understand and support carers this helps them to feel more invested in the company. See, it’s a win win!
The other side of our Caring Corporates Event set the challenge to businesses to support carers through FUNdraising (see what we did there?!)…..there are lots of wild and wacky events to support here at Blackpool Carers, such as our Wakepark Wipeout, Tower to Tower Cycle Ride, annual fundraising Ball and many more coming up throughout the year still to be announced.
We also have sponsorship opportunities, volunteer roles and hiring out our building and gardens for corporate events and team building. Businesses are welcome to run with their own fundraising ideas outside of our calendar of events, for example, you may want to host a quiz night, a sponsored car wash or an inter-team Bake Off challenge…..anything goes really!
