The Carers HeArt Project came about when Blackpool Carers were approached just before the first lockdown by Tony Tackett* of Fylde National Arts Society. He wanted to create some ‘outsider’ artwork (artwork completed by individuals outside the art community) to help highlight  ‘hidden’ carers.

Carers and loved ones they care for, completed artwork using colours, patterns and words that expressed their caring experiences.

Carers HeArt sessions at Beaverbrooks House, provided the space and support for carers to take part in the exhibition, develop art skills and benefit from the therapeutic value of art.

Artwork submitted is now available to be viewed on the dedicated Fylde National Arts Society Online Exhibition.

*Tony has previously organised a number of exhibitions with a variety of people from all walks of life including prisoners.
