Faced with the rising cost of gas and electricity, carers and their families in Blackpool will receive energy and water bills they cannot afford to pay.
What many do not realize is that each year millions of pounds in grants are available to help households in financial hardship to pay for the costs of energy. Applications can be made if your using a pre-pay meter or are billed.
Keeping Carers Warm can support carers registered with Blackpool Carers Centre to access these grants. However, as you would expect there are few caveats, so carry on reading to see if you qualify….
Incomings and outgoings need to be provided and have to be exact figures, any payments being made toward debts need to be included in the expenditure. The application also needs to include documentary evidence to back up the application. This should include: recent utility bills showing actual current usage (not needed if using pre-pay), proof of household income, such as a bank statements. These should be no older than three months. Child tax credit and any other benefits award letters are also needed.
Do not expect to hear if a claim has been successful right away, some applicants have waited a number of weeks to hear if they have been successful or not.
With everything above in mind, and you’re a registered carer with Blackpool Carers Centre and you currently have a debt with your gas, electric or water supplier contact Chris Lear on 01253 393748 or via firstname.lastname@example.org to start the grant application process.
