What is ICHER?
ICHER is the Institute of Complementary Healthcare, Education and Research, whose therapy centre is based at Beaverbrooks House.
Previously based on Deansgate in Blackpool Town Centre, ICHER is a charity which provides evidence-based complementary therapies, carried out by fully qualified and highly experienced professional therapists, who offer some of their time voluntarily to support members of the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre community, by treating anyone living with a long-term physical or mental health illness, disability or condition, and their carers.
What treatments ICHER offer?
Following an initial assessment, patients are offered a programme of weekly appointments, for a six to eight week duration. One-off appointments are also available to anyone who doesn’t wish to commit to a full course of treatment.
- Aromatherapy Massage
- Thai Foot Massage
- Indian Head Massage
- Reiki Healing
- Remedial Massage
How can ICHER help you?
Our statistics show that ICHER therapies aide symptom and pain management, reduce anxiety and depression, and help to improve coping mechanisms and general well-being. All treatments are evidence based and delivered to meet the recommendations for clinical governance as set out in the NICE (The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guidelines.
Help and Support for Carers
ICHER therapists understand that many carers have their own health issues and may struggle to cope with their own needs in addition to those of whom they care for. Research has shown that carers who receive complementary therapy and training in self-care demonstrate improved coping and general health.
Carers are welcome to bring along their cared for, who can wait in a safe and secure environment.
ICHER is a charity which receives no external funding and relies solely on donations to continue its worthwhile work. Therefore your donation is much appreciated.
For those with a long-term condition and their carers, who commit to a 6-8 week programme of treatment, expected donations are currently set at: –
- £9 per hourly sessions for those in receipt of any means-tested benefit
- £16 per hourly session for those not in receipt of any means tested benefit
For those requiring a one-off treatment, or who do not have any health conditions, expected donations are currently set at: –
- £20 for 30 minutes treatment
- £31 for a one hour treatment
ICHER referrals are received from many Health and Social care professionals, and self referrals are accepted also.
